I filled the little well with rock salt and within two days I had four cabbage whites fighting over it. The hand-painted finish looks like actual stone, not the shiny plastic I was bracing for.
The blue recessed well is deeper than it looks in the photos, so I filled it with sand and a pinch of rock salt and the swallowtails have been landing on it every afternoon. Hand-painted finish has held up fine through two weeks of sprinklers.
I was skeptical about whether the butterflies would actually show up, but the recessed blue well holds the salt mix perfectly and it’s become a daily stop for them. The hand-painted stone looks surprisingly nice tucked between my hostas, not cheesy at all.
